Shawn Michaels was forced to retire from in-ring competition when he lost his match to The Undertaker back at WrestleMania 26 and has since stuck to the fact that he didn’t want to be a wrestler who claimed that he was retired and then returned to the ring a number of times like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan.

Michaels was able to stay away from the squared circle for more than eight years before he was called back into action for Crown Jewel earlier this month where he teamed with Triple H against the team of The Undertaker and Kane.

Many fans have been overly negative about the match and Michaels recently appeared on E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness where he revealed that the match came across as rusty because he didn’t have time to step back in the ring ahead of the show.

Michaels had planned to go to the Performance Center and work on some spots but he admitted that his schedule was so busy that he couldn’t find any time.

“No, no and I had every intention of doing it but our schedules got so busy,” he said via Ringsidenews.

Michaels was able to step away from the ring for almost a decade and still return and put on a fantastic show without a warm-up.

There are very few wrestlers who would be able to complete such a feat. Interestingly Christian brought this fact up as part of the podcast and revealed that Vince McMahon once told him that only two wrestlers could accomplish this and it would be Michaels and Christian after Captain Charisma was able to return to the ring with very little ring rust a few years ago.
