Shayna Baszler defends her NXT Women’s Championship against inaugural Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane this weekend at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4 on Saturday night.
But ahead of the rematch from the final of the all-women’s competition this weekend, Baszler seems to be looking ahead to a match against the four horsewomen of NXT (which consists of Charlotte, Bayley, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch) in the near future.
Back at the inaugural Mae Young Classic, the Four Horsewomen of WWE and MMA had a confrontation backstage without Sasha Banks and Shayna Baszler and many fans expected this to lead to a match between the eight women but this never came into fruition.
Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke are now both working for NXT, whilst Ronda Rousey could become the Raw Women’s Champion this weekend, which means that the match between the four Horsewomen could happen in the near future. Many fans believe that WWE could be building up to a match between the eight women at Evolution in October.
Ahead of her Women’s Championship defense this weekend, Baszler spoke to Inside The Ropes, where she confirmed that she wants to fight the Four Horsewomen of NXT.
“If they want it to happen, the four of us are fighters,” Baszler said via SEScoops. “We’ve never turned down any sort of fight. They want to argue about who’s the “Four Horsewomen” and what and who owns it. We had it first and that’s fact. It was given to us, we didn’t just call ourselves that.”
The build-up to Evolution hasn’t begun yet, but the Mae Young Classic final has already been confirmed and is now the first match on the card. It will be interesting to see if that blockbuster eight woman tag team match becomes the second match to be officially announced for the historic show.
