The first opponent for Rey Mysterio, who will be returning to the WWE full-time for the first time in four years, has been revealed.
Mysterio, who’s return has been announced for next Tuesday’s SmackDown 1000, will be facing the current United States Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura.
Mysterio and Nakamura will be squaring off in a qualifying match for the first-ever WWE World Cup Tournament which will be held during the Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Riyadh.
Mysterio is said to have signed a two-year contract with the WWE. Over at WWE.com, they have already released a list of places and dates where fans will be able to see the Master of The 619 show his skill in a WWE ring again.
Mysterio is set to appear in:
Hartford, Connecticut – October 20
Boston, Massachusetts – October 21
White Plains, New York – October 22
Cardiff, Wales – November 3
Aberdeen, Scotland – November 4
Birmingham, England – November 5
Mysterio’s match on SmackDown 1000 will be first in-ring appearance on SmackDown Live since he left in 2014.
SmackDown 1000 is a celebration of the 1000th episode of the blue brand. Aside from Mysterio, other former SmackDown stalwarts who will be returning for the 1000th episode are Edge and The Undertaker.
Edge, the Ultimate Opportunist, will be using SmackDown 1000 as an opportunity to not just come home but also to host a special edition of his “The Cutting Edge” talk show. No word yet on who he plans to have as his guest.
The Undertaker, who is set to tag with his brother Kane against the reformed DX during Crown Jewel is also being advertised for SmackDown 1000. What he has in store hasn’t been specified, but it will probably have something to do with that upcoming match.
