The Bludgeon Brothers successfully defended their SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The New Day this past weekend at SummerSlam, but the fact that they still have their Championships is because the match ended with a disqualification.

This could be why SmackDown Live General Manager Paige made a match for tonight’s episode of the show that will see Harper and Rowan defend against The New Day once again, but this time in a no disqualification match.

According to a report by PWInsider, Rowan picked up an arm injury as part of his match at The Biggest Party of the Summer and missed SmackDown’s Live Event last night in Atlantic City because he needed to have the injury evaluated.

The match tonight could be a good way to measure how bad the injury is for Rowan, if the Bludgeon Brothers drop their Championships then it’s likely that it’s a serious injury and he will need some time away from the ring, but if the duo retain then it could just be a knock that Rowan can still wrestle with.

Right now it is unknown as to how bad to injury to his arm is since no details have been shared, but he has been a Tag Team Champion for 135 days after he and Harper won a triple threat match that also included The Usos and The New Day back at WrestleMania.

The Bludgeon Brothers have been the most dominant Champions on the brand ever since WWE’s biggest event of the year and if Rowan has to spend some time on the sidelines then it’s hard to see Harper following suit. Hopefully, WWE will find something for him to do as a singles star.
