Money in the Bank pay-per-view is scheduled to take place on May 10th and it was announced earlier today that SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The New Day, will be defending their titles at the ppv.
Big E and Kofi Kingston, who became 8-time tag team champions last month when Big E defeated The Miz and Jey Uso in a triple threat match, will defend against The Miz & John Morrison, The Forgotten Sons and Lucha House Party in a Fatal 4-Way Match.
Former champions and the self-proclaimed “Greatest Tag Team of the 21st Century”, The Miz and Morrison had held the titles for 3 months since they defeated The New Day at Elimination Chamber this year, The Forgotten Sons sent a message by defeating The New Day, and Lucha House Party shocked everyone when they pinned The Miz and Morrison last week at SmackDown. So it’s anybody’s game at this point.
Meanwhile, WWE Superstar Kalisto, who is currently part of The Lucha House Party, confirmed that he is out of action with an injury.
Kalisto has not been seen on WWE TV for several months, leaving his stablemates Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik to compete as a duo. Most notably, the two represented Lucha House Party in the tag team Elimination Chamber match during the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in March.
During a live event held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on December 30, fans noticed that Kalisto seemed to have been injured in a match against The Revival.
In the “Lucha Family” YouTube channel, Kalisto posted a video confirming the rumor injuries, including the fan observation of when it happened.
“Unfortunately I got hurt back on December 31 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. So I ended up having an AC [joint] separation in my shoulder, and some ligament tear,” said Kalisto.
“Thank God no surgery,” he added. “But it’s a longer recovery and I’m taking my time to come back, and I want to come back 100%. Every time I’ve watched SmackDown or RAW I just want to get in there so bad, but I know my boys are doing great.”
Kalisto is reportedly under a multi-year deal with WWE and is likely to stay with the company for another 3 or 5 years. He originally debuted on NXT back in 2014 where he became an NXT Tag Team Champion. He has currently held the WWE United States Championship twice and the Cruiserweight Championship once.
