AEW star Sonny Kiss has been absent from AEW television in order to deal with an unspecified injury.
Kiss, who wrestles on both AEW Dark and AEW Dynamite, has been missing from both shows for about a month now.
His last televised match was during the December 22, 2020 episode of AEW Dark. He went up against Miro in a losing effort. His last match on Dynamite occurred on October 21, 2020, when he lost against Kenny Omega.
During the AEW Dynamite Post-Show, a fan asked Tony Schiavone about Kiss’s absence and he said that Kiss was injured.
“He’s been injured,” said Schiavone, declining to give any details as to the nature of Kiss’ injury but stressing that he was still a part of the AEW roster.
“I’ve seen him in the training room. So he’s been banged up,” added Schiavone. “I’ve seen him in the gym but he’s just not able to perform. He is a tremendous athlete.”
Kiss spoke up on Twitter to squash the story that he is injured. He jokingly said he had no idea how the rumor got started while tagging Tony Schiavone in the process.
Schiavone also replied to that Tweet, and it is in fact great news because AEW needs good people they can rely on and Sonny Kiss has a ton of potential.
Kiss signed with AEW in February of last year, debuting in the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing. While he performs as a singles wrestler, he is also part of an alliance with Joey Janella and the two often tag together.
