Due to travel restrictions put in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic, several of AEW’s international wrestlers have been unable to appear on their shows.
Japanese wrestler CIMA, who as we reported earlier, was recently involved in a traffic accident while biking in his home country.
Meanwhile, the inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion Riho is also a wrestler with World Wonder Ring Stardom in Japan and she has been limited to wrestling on shows in her home country.
This Saturday, Riho saw action at Yokohama Cinderella, one of Stardom’s biggest shows since restrictions on professional wrestling was lifted in Japan.
Riho teamed with Saya Iida to get a win over Natsu Sumire and Yuna Manase.
While getting a win was probably great for Riho, one of her former AEW compatriots had an even better night during Yokohama Cinderella.
Bea Priestley, who was released by AEW in August, won the SWA title during the show. She did so by defeating Momo Watanabe.
Also present backstage watching the show was former WWE NXT Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane. Sane returned to Japan in July, but she has recently announced that she is still “supporting the WWE” in her home country.
