CM Punk returned to the wrestling scene on WWE Backstage a few weeks ago and has been very outspoken about WWE’s current product. Interestingly, his comments have only fueled the speculation that he will return to WWE in the near future, while many fans still hold out hope that AJ Lee will one day return and spice up the current Women’s Division.

Speaking in a recent conference call, Stephanie McMahon was asked about the potential of both the stars returning to the ring after more than four years, and the former Commissioner of Monday Night Raw appeared positive about a return for both former stars.

“I personally enjoy watching both of them perform. ‘I think Punk’s been pretty vocal that he’s not interested in an in-ring return right now, but for sure, that would be interesting and I would love to see AJ Lee back in the women’s division,” she told Metro.

Given the current Women’s Revolution in WWE, McMahon heaped praise on AJ Lee and claimed that she was as much to thank for the revolution as every other woman who is currently involved.

“I think AJ Lee was an incredibly compelling character, some of our most interesting and intriguing storylines were with AJ, and I think she deserves as much credit as every other woman on our roster. Nobody should be overlooked, and that’s not the goal to overlook anybody’s name. Every single person is a huge reason for why this happened. ‘You know, I’m a big fan of AJ Lee’s, I really am.”

Lee herself took to Twitter earlier this month to state that she was not looking to return to WWE anytime soon and reiterated the fact that she is retired. Her husband CM Punk, on the other hand, is believed to be building towards a match at the upcoming WrestleMania in April, but he and WWE are remaining tightlipped about any kind of return to the ring.
