Stephanie McMahon made the historic announcement last night on RAW regarding the first ever all-women’s pay-per-view event entitled Evolution which will take place on October 28th. Despite this being historic for the Women’s Division, there was speculation ahead of the announcement that The Commissioner was going to announce Women’s Tag Team Championships instead.

There are a number of Women’s Tag Teams in WWE right now including The Iconics and Sasha Banks and Bayley, and last night’s RAW also saw a historic match between The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection and a team of female jobbers. This was the first time that WWE has ever used a women’s tag team as jobbers and shows just how far the Women’s Divison has come over the past few years.
The Chief Brand Officer of WWE recently spoke to Sky Sports where she was able to confirm that Tag Team Championships were something that WWE was looking to introduce.
“Not quite yet but that’s absolutely something we’ve heard loud and clear from our fan base and it’s something we’re keen on implementing as soon as we are able to.”
The Women’s Revolution is definitely in full swing and with Evolution taking place in just three months time, there are questions surrounding the former Women’s Champion and whether or not she will be returning to the ring as part of the show.
“That’s yet to be determined, we want to make sure our superstars really get the spotlight they deserve but if it makes sense then absolutely. But that’s yet to be determined.”
