Su Yung is New Knockouts Champion, Return of Knockouts Tag Team Titles Announced at Bound for Glory

The Impact Knockouts Championship was supposed to be defended by Deonna Purrazo against Kylie Rae during the Bound For Glory pay-per-view.

However, Rae did not show up even as her entrance music played. This led Purrazo to take the mic and mock her absent opponent. She then offered a challenge to anyone backstage.

In response to Purrazo’s challenge, out came Su Yung, who was able to hit her “panic switch” move on Purrazo to get a pinfall victory.

The change in the match was not explained during the show, but it seems like Rae was indeed missing from the venue, which resulted in Yung taking her place.

According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, Rae had an “injury that isn’t considered to be serious.”

Another exciting development for the Knockouts division was announced during the show. The Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Titles were announced to be making their return during the upcoming Hard To Kill pay-per-view on January 16, 2021.

There has been no detail revealed yet as to how the championships will be decided. However, given that there are several weeks of Impact set before the pay-per-view, that is plenty of time to hold a tournament-style event that will cumulate at Hard To Kill.

The Knockouts Tag Team Titles were first introduced in 2009, but they were vacated and retired in 2013.
