The New Day’s Gesture For #BlackLivesMatter on SmackDown Was Approved By Vince McMahon Without Pushbacks

On an episode of SmackDown a few weeks back, SmackDown Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Big E made a very unique entrance.

The New Day members took a knee in the middle of the ring on a pre-taped episode of the show in order to support the Black Lives Matter movement, which is currently headline news in America.

Big E recently spoke on The Sports Bubble with Jensen Karp where he was able to reveal what Vince McMahon’s reaction to the gesture was.

“So, we’ve done a few things, and I think we’re going to continue to use some things like you mentioned, taking a knee, to bring attention to this movement on SmackDown. And the nice thing is, you know, we ran it by Vince McMahon, our boss, and he approved it. We got no pushback there,” via WrestlingInc.

Big E also went on to discuss how supporting WWE have been throughout the campaign and how they have advertised much of what The New Day have been trying to push forward.

“We got a lot of support from the company with the podcast and we can’t typically put out a video, not the whole video because of the way the contract is with our podcast, but they were so supportive with us putting up the whole conversation because we felt like it was important for people to listen to this hour plus, and to see it and to see our faces and see our expressions.”
