Paige has been making the rounds of various talk shows promoting the biopic based on her life “Fighting With My Family”.
The movie was produced and backed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and in an interview with BUILD Series, Paige revealed how The Rock first told her he wanted to make a biopic of her life.
According to Paige, the biopic wasn’t the only big and surprising news the Rock delivered to her – he also was the one who told her when she would be debuting in the main roster and how.
Paige debuted on the RAW after WrestleMania in 2014. She didn’t just debut, she ended up in a championship match with then Diva’s Champion AJ Lee. She won her first main roster championship that night.
According to Paige, the day before WrestleMania, she got a text from a “DJ” on her phone.
“I got a text on my phone that was like, ‘Hey, it’s DJ. I would like to speak with you at some point today.’ I didn’t know he had a nickname, so I was like, ‘Who the hell is DJ? Like, what the f—?’”, Paige recalls.
The Rock then told Paige that he had seen the documentary made about her family and thought it would make a good movie.
“And I’m like, ‘What?!’ And then he was like, ‘Oh, by the way, you’re going to be debuting tomorrow and winning the Diva’s Championship.’ And I was like, ‘What?!’ And I just start crying my eyes out, snot bubbles everywhere, eyelashes falling off,” she said.
