WWE presented the final installment of SmackDown Live on USA Network last night and will make a much-anticipated return to FOX next week. WWE is presenting a stacked card for the debut, which will also serve as 20th Anniversary Special for SmackDown.
WWE has already listed several Hall of Famers to return for the show, including Sting, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan. According to AdAge, The Rock could make an appearance on SmackDown next week.
The report says that several names are being kept under wraps, and Dwayne Johnson could very well show up at the show. Rock has an upcoming Disney movie, ‘Jungle Cruise’, and could use this opportunity to promote his flick.
The term SmackDown was coined by The Great One himself, and he was the very first pick for SmackDown in the first-ever draft lottery 17 years ago. The Rock coming back ‘home’ will be an iconic sight and will blow up the internet.
The Rock was undoubtedly the biggest name in professional wrestling during his time, but The Man Becky Lynch has risen to the top of WWE in the past year.
Lynch has constantly been at the forefront of WWE promotions, appearing on leading sports websites to promote the upcoming move to SmackDown Live.
WWE recently filed a trademark for ‘The Lasskicker’, which is Lynch’s old gimmick. Lynch was called the Lasskicker until last year when she took up ‘The Man’ gimmick.
Ric Flair recently locked down The Man tag-line and negotiations with WWE have seemingly reached a dead end. WWE won’t be able to use The Man tagline in the future if Flair secures complete rights, and it could be the reason behind WWE’s filing for the Lasskicker trademark.
Hopefully, things get sorted out soon and we continue to see more of ‘The Man’ in WWE.
