It was earlier reported that 10-time WWE Champion, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could be making a surprise return at WrestleMania 34 and even wrestle a match, more accurately a short bout like his last fight at WrestleMania 32 against Erick Rowan. However, the report was scrapped off on April 5 as The Rock dropped the bombshell on the WrestleMania rumour.
In an interview with reporter Chris Van Vliet, The Great One said, “You will not see me there” regarding his WrestleMania surprise appearance. Johnson was accompanied by film director, Jeffrey Dean Morgan to promote their upcoming movie, “Rampage”. The wrestler-turned-Hollywood megastar also discussed about his previous video game movie, “Doom” that he did 13 years ago.
In response to Chris’ plans of hopping on a plane and going to New Orleans after the interview to see the Hollywood star there, The Rock said,
“For WrestleMania? Awesome. You will not see me there but now… Actually you will, [pointing towards Jeffrey] you’ll see us. We are tag teaming.”
The “Jabroni Beating Eyebrow Raising” further talked about his entry into Hollywood, why Rampage is a better video game movie than Doom and also how much size he has put on in the last 10 years and more. The actor thereupon made fun of 16-time WWE Champion, John Cena’s character in the recent animated movie, “Ferdinand”.
This statement by The Great One has left the WWE Universe baffled as fans are expecting him to return in a much different way than they had earlier speculated. Although Johnson was also rumoured to be in a singing segment with Elias, new rumours have surfaced which claim that the wrestler-turned-actor would be making a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 34 not to wrestler but to promote his upcoming film “Rampage”. Promoting an upcoming film at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in front of a massive 70000+ audience definitely makes sense keeping in mind Triple H’s Terminator-style grand entrance from WrestleMania 31 for the promotion of “Terminator Genisys”.
