The Rock Reveals Why He Retired In 2004, Mandy Rose On How The WWE Roster Found Out About Becky Lynch’s Pregnancy

The Rock left WWE back in 2004 and has never looked back since he has become a huge star on the silver screen. The former World Champion has returned to WWE a number of times over the past 16 years, but never as a full-time star.

As part of a recent Q&A on his Instagram account, The Great One was finally able to reveal the reasons behind his WWE exit all those years ago.

“One: my contract had expired and two: which is the most important thing, an agreement that I have with anybody in the world. Any company, any individual, it’s always important to me – it means everything to me – to shake that person’s hand and look them in the eye. In 2004 when my contract expired, I had delivered on my agreement with the WWE and with my long-time mentor and very, very good friend Vince McMahon.”

“We shook hands, that’s the way we are. The risk was two-fold. I retired on top as pro wrestling’s #1 draw and coming from the world of wrestling, the odds were stacked against me of having a Hollywood career that had any kind of long term, substantial global influence, and value. After a bewildering seven-year career as a wrestler, I kept my handshake bond – finished out my contractual obligations and quietly retired.”

One WWE star who is about to go on hiatus is Becky Lynch, the former Women’s Champion announced her pregnancy last week on Raw and is now sidelined for an undisclosed about of time.

Becky Lynch’s pregnancy came as a huge shock to the WWE Universe since The Man was at the top of her game and her relationship with Seth Rollins had not been a focus on WWE TV. Lynch announced her pregnancy to the world last week on Raw and relinquished the Women’s Championship in the process, but while the WWE Universe was surprised by the news, so were The Irish star’s colleagues.

Mandy Rose recently spoke to Digital Spy where she revealed that she found out the news on Raw along with WWE’s fanbase.

“It’s so crazy, I’m so happy for her. We all found out basically that night when (Raw) aired. I had no idea. I couldn’t be more happy for her and what a year she’s had, and now to top it off she’s going to be a mother. She’s such a cool person. She’s always been such a great locker room leader and has always been really good to all the women. I respect her so much, so I’m super happy for her and Seth.”
