WWE Superstar & Hollywood Megastar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been linked with an epic dream match against his cousin and WWE main eventer Roman Reigns, shall The Great One choose to wrestle in the WWE again.
According to Give Me Sport, The Rock would like to face Reigns before he officially bids farewell to pro-wrestling.
The People’s Champion is one of the greatest ever WWE legends, beating the best in the business, such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, The Undertaker, CM Punk and many more, both inside the ring and on the mic.
Johnson has also made it big in Hollywood, featuring in major blockbuster hits like the Fast & Furious franchise, Baywatch, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Rampage.
The 10-time World Champion recently announced that he can’t wait to get back into a WWE ring during the premiere of his latest movie Skyscraper in New York.
Johnson said: “I can’t wait to get back into a WWE ring.
“Everybody always asks me what’s it like being in a WWE ring and I always tell them, there’s a lot of celebrities and athletes too, I say there’s nothing like it.
“There’s nothing like [being] inside a WWE ring because there’s a certain live crowd acumen, there’s great connective tissue that’s second to none.
“That was always, and will always be the best part of my job when it comes to wrestling, whether I’m wrestling a match or just giving a promo. That connection with the audience, there’s nothing like it.”
And it appears that The Rock would like to go down with Reigns who is on his pursuit to becoming the face of the WWE.
Reigns is a 3-time World Champion and also a WWE Grand Slam Champion. The Big Dog has the opportunity to be crowned the new Universal Champion if he succeeds in defeating “The Beast” Brock Lesnar for the title at SummerSlam.
It’s no secret that WWE has been trying to build another “Great One” out of Reigns and CEO Vince McMahon will go to lengths to materialise this plan.
Johnson and Reigns are not biological cousins but share a special family bond through their Samoan heritage. Their relation occurred as a result of Reverend Amituana’i Anoa’i, Reigns’ grandfather, declaring Peter Maivia, Johnson’s grandfather, as his blood brother – something that holds deep meaning within Samoan culture.
The Rock had also expressed his intention to square off against Reigns in the past, after assisting his cousin to win the 2015 Royal Rumble.
