The Rock hasn’t been part of a segment on WWE TV since he defeated Erick Rowan back at WrestleMania 32, this is believed to be because The Great One suffered an injury as part of that match that went on to affect the filming of Hercules.
The former World Champion has struggled over the past few years to be able to find a balance between acting and wrestling since his production company is now worried that he might injure himself once again.
Speculation has been rife over the past few months concerning The Rock’s return to the company and since he is now the favorite to win the 2019 Royal Rumble and is also rumored to be part of SmackDown’s 1000th episode next month, this could mean that a marquee match at WrestleMania 35 could also be on the cards if Reigns is still holding the Universal Championship.
The Rock appeared alongside Roman Reigns back in 2015 when he won The Royal Rumble and showed that there was an obvious bond between the two stars, but now it appears that WWE wants The Great One to return to go against his cousin in what would be Roman’s fifth consecutive WrestleMania main event.
According to a report by CageSideSeats, the only thing that is holding this plan back right now is The Rock’s schedule, but this was the same thing that prevented the former World Champion from competing alongside Ronda Rousey at this year’s WrestleMania.
This is the first time in a number of years that The Rock has shown an interest in returning to WWE and even though the WWE Universe expects Rousey to be in the main event, WWE could decide to give The Rock the main event for the first time in six years.
