The Rock Watches AEW, Social Distancing Formula For Tapings

The Rock is one of the biggest names in Hollywood currently, and his rise to the top of the movie industry started with WWE years ago. The Rock remains a big wrestling enthusiast at heart, and despite his success, hasn’t given up on his wrestling past.

With the lockdown in full-flow all over the world due to COVID-19, the Rock’s several projects have come to a screeching halt. The superstar went on Instagram live for a QnA session with his huge fanbase, and answered a rather interesting question related to professional wrestling.

On asked whether he watches AEW, The Rock answered in affirmative and went on to praise the company for their current success. He said that it felt great to see a company do good and felt that it promotes competition in the wrestling business.

“Do I watch AEW? Yeah I watch AEW, of course I do I’m very happy for the success of that company because that’s always a good thing and it creates a hunger which is good.”

The Rock’s words will surely be a major win for the company, as he is one of the most-followed stars on social media. The Rock last appeared in WWE on SmackDown’s debut episode on FOX last year, and last wrestled at WrestleMania 32, defeating Eric Rowan in a quick match.

AEW recently taped weeks worth of content for Dynamite and AEW Dark, and Dave Meltzer noted how the company followed the social distancing situation.

Meltzer said that AEW and WWE both violated the rule of having 10 men inside the building at a time, but AEW has had only Tony Khan in the gorilla position during the matches. WWE hasn’t adhered to this, and as seen during the Edge-Orton Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania, several individuals were backstage.

Both companies are trying their best to bring entertainment in these trying times, but it could be costly if proper measures aren’t taken.
