There were three traditional Survivor Series elimination matches last night, which included the men, women and tag teams, but it was the ten team match that was relegated to the pre-show.
The tag teams put on quite the spectacle, which included Kalisto being forced to sub out and Gran Metalik then took his place before The Lucha House Party were eliminated.
The end of the match saw The Usos pick up the victory for Team SmackDown, their only win all night when they defeated The Revival, but when the main show started a few minutes later, it was made clear that the kickoff show wasn’t being included in the overall tally.
According to The Wrestling Observer, this was because The Usos weren’t supposed to win, Vince McMahon wanted Raw to have a clean sweep throughout the entire show, but The Usos were told to go out and win the kickoff show match, so they were left with little choice but to act as though the match had never happened.
“So here’s the deal, okay? The storyline was supposed to be a clean-sweep for Raw and somewhere in the communications process, don’t as me why SmackDown won that tag match so they had to tell everyone that it didn’t count.”
“That was the reason. One hand forgot what the other was doing. Vince wanted a clean-sweep and I don’t know how this happens, so yeah, it didn’t count.” he said via Ringsidenews.
It is unknown as to whether or not WWE will comment on The Usos winning their match on SmackDown Live this week or if they will just decide to ignore the match much like they have ever since.
