This week’s episode of RAW was a slightly strange one since it was the fallout from SummerSlam and whilst there are usually a number of last-minute changes made to the show each week, it appears that this weeks show was changed a number of times before it made it to screen.
One of the biggest things that many fans have picked up on is the fact that Brock Lesnar wasn’t in attendance despite being advertised, but this was because WWE sent him home following SummerSlam and never had a plan for him to be part of the show.
Dean Ambrose and Drew McIntyre had their own issues at ringside on Sunday night when they supported both Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler and it was expected that the two men would collide on Monday Night on RAW, but this didn’t happen.
According to PWInsider, the original plan was for McIntyre and Ambrose to face off on RAW, but this was then changed to a match with Ziggler just before the show went live.
Joe Peisich from Barnburner’s Fired Up podcast recently noted that Ziggler was offered a new contract by WWE ahead of SummerSlam and actually rejected it, which could be the main reason why he’s been seemingly punished.
“Dolph Ziggler was presented a new contract and refused, did not sign his contract at SummerSlam,” he said via RingsideNews. “He lost his title and lost the next night on RAW. Look for Dolph Ziggler to start a losing streak now almost as big as Curt Hawkins.”
Ziggler lost his Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam on Sunday night and is now expected to go on a losing streak since he was the star that WWE decided to sacrifice in order to give Dean Ambrose his first win following injury.
