On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, inaugural TNT Champion Cody was able to retain his title against the challenger Orange Cassidy.
Cody had only just won the title back last week from the leader of the Dark Order, Brodie Lee before Cassidy strolled out to the back to challenge Cody. Cody granted Cassidy the match which took place tonight.
It should be noted that, while Cody won the match, he didn’t do so by either pinfall or submission. Rather, he was declared the winner over Cassidy because they had reached the 20-minute time limit for the match.
During the match, it was announced that Darby Allin would have a TNT Championship title opportunity at Full Gear. The PPV is set to take place on November 7 at Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida.
With Cody’s victory this week, it looks like we’re getting Allin vs. Cody at Full Gear. At least for now.
What has also been announced for Full Gear has been the finals of an eight-man elimination tournament to determine the number 1 contender for the AEW World Title and a match for the AEW Tag Team titles held by FTR.
The last two competitors for the AEW World Title Eliminator were announced this week, as well as the brackets for the tournament which will begin next week.
Penta El Zero and Joey Janela join Kenny Omega, Rey Fenix, Colt Cabana, Jungle Boy, Wardlow, and Hangman Adam Page in the tournament.
The following matches for the first round were also announced:
- Penta El Zero and Rey Fenix
- Kenny Omega and Joey Janela
- Cold Cabana and Adam Page
- Wardlow and Jungle Boy
As we said, tag team champions FTR will also be in action at Full Gear, but their opponents have yet to be decided.
There will be a four-way tag team match during the next episode of Dynamite and that will determine FTR’s Full Gear Opponents. The competitors will be Private Party, John Silver and Alex Reynolds, The Butcher and The Blade, and The Young Bucks.
