Top Independent Star Reportedly Signs WWE Deal

Former Wonder of Stardom Champion, Io Shirai recently signed a deal with WWE and the news took the pro-wrestling world by storm. However, WWE has signed yet another major independent female wrestler after having her for several months under the radar.

According to Squared Circle Sirens, WOH Wrestler of the Year (2017), Deonna Purrazzo recently signed a deal with WWE and will be performing in the developmental territory NXT.

Purrazzo cancelled her World Wonder Ring Stardom tour indicating and put on “unavailable for bookings”, thus indicating her move to NXT. She had worked a dark match before night two during the first Mae Young Classic tournament in July 2017 and is expected to be in the WWE Network exclusive tournament proper this year.

Purrazzo had earlier been a part of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds in 2014. The 23-year-old wrestler also appeared on SmackDown Live as the mysterious spider lady, and in later weeks, the woman was revealed to be 6-time Women’s Champion Mickie James.

Purrazzo has competed in ROH, ECWA, SHIMMER and Stardom and had earlier wrestled on a few episodes of NXT. Prior to the report, Deonna was announced for the ALL IN event (September 1, 2018) and Chris Jericho’s Rock N Wrestling cruise in October.
