Bobby Lashley has been pushed as one of WWE’s top stars over the past few months, ever since he made his return to the company the night after WrestleMania.
His recent heel turn has allowed him to step into an unfamiliar position on Raw, but last night’s loss to Finn Balor definitely came as a huge shock to the WWE Universe.
Lashley was the reason that Kevin Owens was taken out of action a few weeks ago and it was thought that Lashley was about to be the subject of a huge push in WWE, but this week’s loss to Balor could mean that there is more to the picture.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer recently noted that Lashley has been working hurt over the past few weeks but didn’t disclose the details of his injury. Lashley isn’t expected to miss any time in the ring due to injury, which means that WWE doesn’t have another headache to deal with.
Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Alexa Bliss, and Braun Strowman are all already dealing with injuries, which means that the company has been forced to make a number of changes to their product in recent weeks. Not to mention the fact that Roman Reigns was forced to relinquish the Universal Championship last night on Raw as he starts his long battle to overcome leukemia.
This time of the year is when WWE is hit the hardest when it comes to injuries, but the company has always been able to find a way around it.
There are a number of shows coming up thick and fast with Evolution, Crown Jewel, Survivor Series, and Starrcade all within the next month so the company is lucky that Lashley won’t be sidelined because he could be forced into another unfamiliar slot in the future.
