Triple H is one of the major faces behind WWE’s current programming today, and his work with NXT is applauded throughout the pro wrestling industry. The Cerebral Assassin has been doing a lot of press tours in the recent weeks, in order to promote NXT’s upcoming debut on the USA Network.
Triple H spoke with Newsweek recently and spoke about NXT’s upcoming debut and the factors involved with it. He spoke at length about the development and the changes that will take place with the imminent move.
One of the questions asked to the WWE COO was about the integration of 205 Live into NXT. On asked whether 205 Live will be a part of NXT similar to NXT UK, Triple H replied by saying that 205 Live will eventually join the NXT banner.
Triple H feels that 205 Live is currently in limbo, and has strayed away from the intended purpose of the brand. 205 Live’s top championship is currently the Cruiserweight Championship, and it could work as a great mid-card belt in the new two-hour format of NXT.
“You’ll start to see 205 begin to. I think it always existed as an island onto itself, a little bit, and it’s become lost in this limbo. You’ll begin to see it move more towards the NXT banner and the talent there. We have a lot of talent. For them to begin to compete either open against anyone or in the cruiserweight division, but have that title sit under the NXT brand is more meaningful. It creates more opportunities for more people. “
Triple H also went on to say that RAW and SmackDown will be separate entities altogether, and the superstars on those brands are free to compete with each other.
“As for RAW and SmackDown, it’s an open division for them. When you’re on both shows, everybody is competing against everybody.”
