During an interview with Sports Illustrated, WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H, talked about the possibility that current New England Patriots player Rob Gronkowski could go to the WWE.
While the interview was mostly supposed to be for Triple H to talk about the upcoming WWE Halftime Heat show, he also gave his opinion on rumors that Gronkowski would be retiring from football and going to the WWE after this season.
According to Triple H, while he is not sure how serious Gronk is about going to the WWE, the door is always open for him.
“Rob is very close with one of our stars, Mojo Rawley. We’ve met a few times, and he’s actually come down to the Performance Center and even done stuff with us at WrestleMania,” said Triple H.
“Gronk has mentioned WWE before, that he loves it and said had so much fun doing it. I don’t know if it’s something he’d be seriously interested in, but that’s how the conversation started with Ronda Rousey, too,”said Triple H.
Another WWE personality who would be happy to see Gronk in the WWE, would be the aforementioned Mojo Rawley.
Rawley recently talked to TMZ Sports who asked him what he thought about his close friend possibly joining the WWE after this NFL season ends.
According to Rawley he would be thrilled to work alongside Gronk in the WWE, but, he added that for the time being his friend was completely focused on Superbowl 53.
“All I know is, whatever he does next, or what he’s doing currently, he’s gonna be the best at. He works really hard. He’s doing his thing and we’ll see how it shakes out,” said Rawley.
“If you’re in the WWE, you’re a superstar. It’s not easy to get in, but would he be awesome? I think it would be a good fit for him, yes, for sure,” added Rawley.
