Despite the fact that the WWE Mixed Match Challenge is on its second season, WWE COO doesn’t really see intergender matches as an essential part of getting women’s wrestling “over”.
“It’s a funny thing to me, there’s just a shock moment to that and a spectacle moment to that,” said Triple H, during an interview he gave while he was in Australia for WWE Super Show-Down.
While Triple H was in Australia to face the Undertaker at Super Show-Down, speaking as the COO of WWE and the man who many feel will be guiding the future of the WWE, he reiterated his faith in the current crop of women Superstars.
“Women WWE Superstars don’t need a man to make them successful in the ring. They don’t need a man to step in the ring with them to make them have a spectacular match,” he said.
“They need each other, they need the opportunity, they need the platform, and they need to be set free to do what they need to do,” added Triple H.
With regards to whether the company will see intergender matches in the future, Triple H remains open, but still doesn’t see it as necessary.
“I think when it’s done right there’s an exciting moment when it can happen, but I don’t mean to think that needs to be the standard,” said Triple H.
He also doesn’t believe intergender matches are “empowering”.
“No, you know what makes a female empowered? When she is so good with another female in the ring that no man on the card can stand up to them,” said Triple H. “When they do all the things that they can do right now, on their own, because they have that ability.”
