Triple Threat Match for NXT Women’s Championship Announced for TakeOver

The NXT Women’s Championship will be defended in a triple threat match at NXT Takeover this February 14.

The current NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai has been facing challenges from both Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez these past few months. The three women will get a chance to settle their differences at the first TakeOver of 2021.

Storm, who arrived on NXT during NXT TakeOver 31, has made it clear that she wants Shirai’s title. Martinez, however, returned to NXT just this month and immediately attacked Shirai to announce her intention to come for the champion.

Storm and Martinez were a team during the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but they were eliminated after interference by Shirai.

During the latest episode of NXT, Storm and Martinez’s alliance officially came to an end as both came down to the ring to confront Shirai and ended up fighting themselves.

All three women will have a chance to settle their differences during NXT TakeOver this February. For Storm and Martinez, this will be a chance to win the gold on the black and gold brand.

For Shirai, it’s her chance to maintain her dominance and continue her 235+ day reign as NXT Women’s Champion.
