Trish Stratus locks horns with Charlotte Flair this Sunday at WWE’s upcoming and second biggest pay-per view of the year, SummerSlam.
The build-up has been pretty decent as one would expect; this week on SmackDown Live, Stratus slapped Flair to seemingly get the upper hand ahead of Sunday.
It wasn’t until after Extreme Rules that rumors of the Hall Of Famer returning for a SummerSlam showdown had started doing rounds. While WWE is upset with the leaked card, fans are nevertheless thrilled with the Stratus vs. Flair match-up.
“You can never create this scenario again. It’s serendipitous. If it’s the final moment, I would be proud of the Stratusfaction delivered.”
Per betting odds released by BetOnline, Charlotte (-250) is the favorite to go over babyface underdog Trish (+170).
“As you get older, you decide this is it. I don’t need to keep coming back. I’ve had my ride. But this scenario was so special. To face a superstar like Charlotte Flair at this point of my life. In Toronto. At the second biggest pay-per-view of the year (WrestleMania is first). What could be more right? To face the greatest of her generation — and it’s been argued that I was the greatest of my generation — it’s a pretty unique matchup. Everything is aligning for this and with my age — how much longer can I do this or want to do this? This is the perfect time to do it.”
It’s possible that WWE may hand Trish the victory in her last match of her career but given how Baron Corbin had pinned Kurt Angle in the latter’s farewell match at WrestleMania 35, it’s pretty hard to make any bold predictions whatsoever.
