WWE has officially announced two matches for the next episode of NXT, including one that gives an answer to where a Raw talent has been.

On their Twitter, WWE NXT announced that NXT Champion Keith Lee will face Cameron Grimes in a non-title match. The other match that was announced is a singles match between Bronson Reed and Shane Thorne.

Aside from those two matches, the following matches make up the card for the August 5 episode of NXT.

  • A triple threat match with Damian Priest, Oney Lorcan, and Ridge Holland. This is the third qualifying match for the North American Title Ladder match that is scheduled for TakeOver:30.
  • An NXT Tag Team Championship match with Imperium’s Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner defending against the Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish.
  • A number 1 contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship between Rhea Ripley and Dakota Kai.

What’s interesting to note about the matches in this card is the fact that Shane Thorne is back in action in NXT. Back in March, Thorne and his tag team partner had a couple of matches on RAW and it was believed that they were now part of that brand.

They even began an association with the Hurt Business’ MVP, challenging Cedric Alexander and Ricochet on his behalf. The last of these matches was on May 4 and Thorne and Vink defeated Alexander and Ricochet to earn their first victory on Raw.

Despite this early association with MVP, however, the two have not been referenced since and it looks like they are returning to NXT.

According to Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co, the association with MVP was really going to be short-lived, with MVP turning on the duo. But that was a Paul Heyman idea that was scrapped when Bruce Prichard took over Raw.

Thorne’s profile has now been returned to the NXT page on WWE.com but Vink is currently not listed on any roster.
