Pete Dunne hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since May when he was part of a feud with The Undisputed Era, but the United Kingdom Champion did successfully defend his title against United Kingdom Tournament winner Zack Gibson a few months ago, he has just been AWOL ever since.

Moustache Mountain have continued their feud with The Undisputed Era without him and Adam Cole has moved onto a feud with Ricochet, which will reach a head this weekend in Brooklyn, but even though the company has moved forward since Dunne was last seen, he is set to make his return this weekend.

WWE recently announced that Dunne will once again defend his Championship against Zack Gibson in the rematch from the United Kingdom Tournament this weekend in Brooklyn.

Sadly, Dunne won’t actually be part of the show, instead, his match will be part of the TV Tapings ahead of the Takeover event at The Barclay’s Center and will then be shown on NXT next Wednesday night.

Dunne hasn’t been a focal point of NXT over the past few months and it could be a hint that WWE could be thinking of crowning a new Champion.

The British star has held the title now for well over a year after he defeated Tyler Bate in Chicago back in May last year, but Bate has since gone on to lift the Tag Team Championships and has a match in Brooklyn this weekend, whilst Dunne has seemingly fallen out of favor.

It could be argued that Dunne hasn’t had a bad match since he first appeared on WWE TV last year so the WWE Universe is in for a treat as the two British stars go head to head this weekend with the United Kingdom Championship on the line.
