AJ Styles made his debut in WWE back at The Royal Rumble in 2016 and it’s reported that at that time he signed a three-year deal, which is why reports now suggest that the former TNA Superstar’s contract could be coming to and end soon.

According to PWInsider, Styles’ contract expires in April 2019 and WWE is now working hard to convince the former WWE Champion to sign a new deal.

Styles has been WWE Champion for over a year and only recently dropped the Championship to Daniel Bryan, which shows just how much the company has relied on The Phenomenal One throughout the first two years of the WWE brand split.

Even though Styles has been on top of his game on SmackDown Live over the past year, none of his matches were nominated for Match of the Year, which is a shock, since Styles won the accolade last year for his match against John Cena back at The Royal Rumble where Cena was able to become a 16-time World Champion.

Styles faces Daniel Bryan on Sunday night at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs as he looks to reclaim his WWE Championship, but behind the scenes, Styles continues to negotiate a new contract. A contract that PWInsider reported that he is expected to sign, despite rumors linking him to a move over to All Elite Wrestling in the future.

The WWE Universe never thought that they would see the former TNA legend wrestling in a WWE ring, which is why Styles’ arrival was such a shock almost three years ago.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Phenomenal One if he is able to come to a new arrangement with the company.
