It has been a rough few months for Kevin Owens, who has had to watch his best friend Sami Zayn pushed onto the sidelines after he suffered two torn rotator cuffs and was then subjected to a rivalry with Braun Strowman that saw him thrown off a ladder and through an announce table before he was then thrown off the top of a steel cage.
Owens returned to RAW for the first time since SummerSlam this week and guaranteed that he would be leaving the arena with Seth Rollins’ Intercontinental Championship, but after Rollins was able to hit The Stomp for the three count, an emotional Owens uttered the words “I quit” before leaving the arena to silence.
WWE has not commented publically on Owens’ current status but they have moved his profile over to the alumni section of their website as many of the WWE Universe believe that Owens was frustrated enough to have just quit the company and WWE is seemingly allowing their fanbase to make up their own minds when it comes to his future.
According to Barnburner’s Fired Up podcast, there are bigger plans for Owens on WWE TV. It appears that Paul Heyman could be looking at Owens as a potential new client when he does make his return, which could be a way that he is brought back.
Owens has gone from being the Universal Champion to being at the lowest point of his career. Becoming a Paul Heyman guy could be an interesting way for Owens to get his career back on track and it will allow Heyman to have something to do on screen whilst Brock Lesnar is taking a break from WWE.
