Velveteen Dream Responds To Allegations Of Inappropriate Behavior With Minor, COVID-19 Forces Temporary Change To NXT Commentary Team

NXT Superstar Velveteen Dream is being accused of inappropriate behavior with a minor. On Friday, posts on Reddit claimed that Velveteen Dream had been exchanging direct messages on Instagram with minors, including sending nude photos of himself and asking for nude photos in return.

Another Reddit thread also has audio of Dream allegedly interacting with the minor.

On his part, Dream is denying the allegations and posted a statement on his Twitter. According to Dream, the nude photo was a private photo he had taken that was shared without his content.

“Be assured that I did not communicate inappropriately with anyone,” said Dream.

Dream added that he is looking into the matter with the help of a third party. He posted his statement on both Twitter and Instagram.

There is currently no comment from the WWE regarding the matter.

During recent episodes of WWE NXT, a two-man commentary team consisting of Tom Philipps and Byron Saxon have been calling the matches. This is a change from the usual three-person commentary team of Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this is a temporary change made due to concerns about COVID-19.

Both McGuinness and Phoenix have been given time off after they expressed concern about COVID-19. The two have young kids and are reluctant to quarantine for two weeks, which they would have to do if they worked right now.

Ranallo has also opted to take time off and not fly from Southern California, where he currently makes his home, to Florida where NXT is being taped at the WWE Performance Center.
