Ever since he was promoted to the main roster following this year’s WrestleMania, Andrade “Cien” Almas has found it hard to fit in on the SmackDown Live brand. The former NXT Champion has had a number of matches against some of the biggest stars in the company, which is why he’s managed to turn the head of the WWE Chairman.
Almas’ match against AJ Styles a few weeks ago was the first time Vince McMahon was impressed by El Edelo who is flanked by his business manager Zelina Vega. This is why the former Champion has been able to move on to a feud with Daniel Bryan and has now earned the trust of WWE officials backstage.
Fightful is reporting that Almas was first put into a hard spot on SmackDown Live but he wasn’t expected to stand out and the fact that he did has definitely impressed Vince McMahon.
Almas takes on R-Truth tonight on SmackDown Live since it appears that his feud with Daniel Bryan is over but this could be the start of something interesting that could also include Carmella and Vega.
Almas had a stand out match with Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship back at Takeover: Philadelphia earlier this year, which is where the WWE Universe finally sat up and took note, but it appears that now he has won over the officials backstage. Almas will be put in a prominent position on SmackDown Live and could finally be pushed towards his first Championship.
The former NXT star has come through the ranks in NXT but it wasn’t until Zelina took him under her wing that he was able to show the real star underneath his persona and now WWE has finally taken note.
