In 2012, Vince McMahon offered Chael Sonnen $1 million to jump from UFC to WWE if he no-showed the UFC 148 event. The figure was then boosted to $5 million provided Sonnen dethroned Anderson Silva and came to WWE with the UFC Middleweight Title.&nbsp;



On <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Wrestling Observer Radio (opens in a new tab)" href="http://f4wonline.com/" target="_blank">Wrestling Observer Radio</a>, Dave Meltzer talked about McMahon tampering with contracts and shed light on the truthfulness of Sonnen&#8217;s story. While WWE can definitely talk to someone signed to another company, the fact is the billion-dollar wrestling promotion also has its limits.

Sonnen failed to dethrone Silva in the main event of UFC 148; The Spider defeated The American Gangster via TKO.

Mr. McMahon has a habit of collecting wrestlers/fighters and he stops at nothing to make sure that he gets what he wants. However, The Chairman may not cross the line in cases where there lies a risk of being sued.



Only time will reveal how far WWE goes with contract tampering, especially where small companies are involved. However, given the changing landscape of the pro wrestling business and stiff competition from AEW, WWE should better analyze its actions before making any random daring move henceforth.
