Wade Barrett is a former Intercontinental Champion in WWE and at one point many fans believed that he would become WWE’s first-ever British World Champion. Sadly, this wasn’t the case and Barrett opted to let his contract expire in May 2016.
The former King of the Ring winner has since concentrated on his acting career over the past few years, while also making a hand full of appearances on the wrestling circuit, mostly on commentary.
According to a report by Pro Wrestling Sheet, the former star is set to make his return on tonight’s episode of NXT where he will serve as a guest commentator.
With Corey Graves recently filling in for Mauro Ranallo at Takeover, it’s unknown who Barrett will be covering for on tonight’s episode.
The report goes on to state that Barrett hasn’t signed a deal with WWE as of writing and tonight’s return is set to be a one-off guest appearance.
There is no word yet on if this will work to more on-screen work for the star, who admitted at the end of 2019 that an in-ring return wasn’t high on his list of priorities, which means that he could be looking to make his return as a permanent member of the company’s broadcast team instead.
