Referee Fined For Counting Illegal Pin
This year’s WrestleMania main event made history as the women of WWE took center stage for the first time and were given a “Winner Takes All” match.
The Issue was that Ronda Rousey was pinned for Becky Lynch to win both the SmackDown and Raw Women’s Championships, when only one of her shoulders were down.
Rousey was reportedly angry when she made it backstage following the match and according to Fightful, the referee Rod Zapata has been fined by the company for counting the pinfall when the shoulders weren’t down.
This makes it all the more obvious that this wasn’t supposed to be the finish of the match since either Rousey should have shuffled into a better position or the referee should have called an audible and told Rousey that her shoulders were not down so it wasn’t a legal pin.
The Usos React To Losing Their SmackDown Tag Team Championships
The Usos were able to come out on top at WrestleMania when the odds were against them in a fatal four-way match that also included Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev, Aleister Black, Ricochet and The Bar.
Sadly, they were unable to keep their momentum running through this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, as The Hardy Boyz took away their Tag Team Championships in a match that many fans believed would happen at WrestleMania.
Of course, The Usos aren’t the kind of stars who would take this lying down and have already reacted to losing their titles on Social Media.
Lars Sullivan attacked The Hardy Boyz following their victory as a new storyline looks set to emerge so it’s unknown as to where The Usos fit into the Tag Team Championship picture after their loss.
The Usos have already signed a new WWE contract which means that they will still be part of the company for the foreseeable future but it’s unknown if their rematch clause is still effective.
