Kenny Omega is the hottest free agent in the professional wrestling industry today and is already the “most wanted” on WWE’s radar.

The Cleaner‘ recently announced his departure from NJPW causing fans to endlessly speculate as to whether he is going to sign with WWE or AEW.

While his Elite friends have already declared themselves for All Elite Wrestling, Omega is yet to make a decision regarding his future.

During an interview with Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez in 2017, Kenny had revealed the one and the only reason he would ever consider an offer from WWE. And that reason is none other than former Bullet Club leader AJ Styles himself.

“The main reason I would go to WWE is because I would love to have a match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania. If the truthful, before AJ hangs it up, and before I start to degenerate as an athlete, I really want to have a big match with him on the biggest stage possible, so that is a career goal of mine.”

Styles and Omega share a long history that dates back to their days on NJPW. The Cleaner was the one to succeed The Phenomenal One as the new leader of the Bullet Club when Styles left for WWE.

Kenny’s signing with WWE can directly affect AJ’s future in the company whose current contract is set to expire in April, a crucial point that could see him jump ship to AEW.

Although a one-match-WWE-deal is what Omega seems to be after, it doesn’t appear WWE will allow The Cleaner to wrestle under its banner for one night only.

If Omega does sign with WWE and Styles leaves the promotion post-WrestleMania 35, that would be a pretty big blow to Vince McMahon for chances are that Omega would like to leave too if AEW offers him a gigantic deal at that point. After all, Kenny doesn’t like the ‘atmosphere’ in WWE compared to the ‘family environment’ he has in AEW.
