The fallout from Extreme Rules tonight on Monday Night Raw was set to be pretty epic since Brock Lesnar is now the new Universal Champion and he needs a challenger heading into SummerSlam.
Seth Rollins lost the Universal Championship to Lesnar last night at Extreme Rules when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and was able to defeat The Architect.
Interestingly, WWE announced a while back that superstars would no longer be handed contractual rematches which means that Rollins will not be given a chance to fight Lesnar for that title again unless he earns it.
Earlier today, WWE announced on their Twitter page that there would a 10-man battle royal for the right to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Brock Lesnar would also be in attendance to see over the match, but the company interestingly went on to delete the Tweet not long afterward.
The match was going to include, Seth Rollins, Big E, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman, Rey Mysterio, Baron Corbin, and Roman Reigns. The original Tweet can be seen below but the company then decided that they didn’t want it out in the public domain.
It is thought that WWE opted to remove the Tweet because Daniel Bryan is now being replaced in the match by Sami Zayn, but if the Wild Card rule is in full effect, it’s interesting to see that Kevin Owens has been overlooked in favor of some of these names.
The Battle Royal has now been confirmed and hopefully, Seth Rollins will be given the chance to fight for redemption in Canada at SummerSlam, but this is quite the star-studded line-up and WWE has looked at many of the stars involved as potential threats.
The latest update regarding the battle royal saw new SmackDown Tag Team Champion Big E looking ahead to facing Lesnar at SummerSlam.
