WWE Backlash: Randy Orton Defeats Edge in “The Greatest Wrestling Match”

Randy Orton and Edge collided in a match that was billed as “The Greatest Wrestling Match” this weekend at Backlash and interestingly, it was The Viper who came out on top to level the field between the two men.

Edge picked up the victory back at WrestleMania when the two men collided in a Last Man Standing match, and it was a punt kick that allowed The Apex Predator to take the tally to 1-1 between the two former Tag Team partners.

The match main evented the pay-per-view and saw both men pull out all of the stops to put on a fantastic match. Throughout the match, there were some incredible moments that included the duo using many finishers from some of the biggest stars in the history of WWE.

Finishers from Kurt Angle, Triple H, The Rock, and Christian were just a few of the moves that were incorporated into the match that was almost an hour long.

The two men stood their ground throughout with each delivering their finishers multiple times to no avail. In the end, it was The Viper who delivered a low blow before the punt kick, a move that had been banned by WWE ahead of its delivery tonight.

It was made obvious that the issues between the two men were far from over when Orton told The Rated R Superstar to go home to his three girls and tell them that Uncle Randy said hi following the victory.

Reports heading into the match, which was pre-recorded for the show revealed that Edge had suffered a torn tricep which means that if the duo are set to collide in a rubber match then it could be a while before it becomes a reality.

WWE will now be forced to monitor the condition of the WWE Hall of Famer, who only returned from a decade on the sidelines back in January.
