WWE Backstage is one of the several shows under the WWE umbrella, which are always under the spotlight for the ratings they pull in every week. Ratings are one of the best indicators for checking a show’s popularity and whether they are doing good in the market, and hence, fans and critics are always behind WWE and AEW for the numbers they rake in each week.
This week, despite airing on Christmas Eve with little to no hype, WWE Backstage pulled in 153,000 viewers, which is up nearly 80% from their last week’s number of 95,000. Backstage featured Renee Young, Christian, Ember Moon, Booker T, Maria Menounos, and special guest, actor Paul Walter Hauser.
In comparison, WWE’s other product, Monday Night RAW, had a massive downfall this week as it hit the lowest viewership of all time when it went under two million for the first time this year. The RAW show averaged 1.8 million viewers which surpassed the record low rating of last week.
Backstage ranked 124th this week in the Cable Top 150, after it didn’t manage to break into the top 150 last week with a measly 95,00 audience. The night was topped by the college football game on ESPN, which drew 2.4 million viewers.
The 153,000 viewership is the second-highest audience for Backstage in its two-month-long history after the November 19 episode with CM Punk drew 180,000 viewers. It was the first episode featuring Punk and was expected to rake in higher numbers. Punk was absent from Backstage this week, and it is unclear when he will return to the show again.
The ratings for NXT will be delayed due to the Christmas holidays, but we will get to know pretty soon how the show fared without any competition from AEW.
FOX will be pretty satisfied by the current numbers Backstage is pulling in, but they will surely hope to pump it up higher in the coming weeks.
