Samoa Joe has been targeting AJ Styles ever since SmackDown Live General Manager Paige gave him the go-ahead for his WWE Championship match at SummerSlam.

Joe has made the feud between himself and Styles very personal in recent weeks and when the WWE Champion was forced to use a steel chair to overcome Samoa Joe at SummerSlam, it was well-known that there was a rematch on the horizon.

WWE has recently announced that Samoa Joe will be given his rematch at Hell In A Cell, since he technically won the match at SummerSlam via disqualification. This past week on SmackDown Live, Styles attempted to address the WWE Universe but was once again attacked by Samoa Joe who continued to talk about Styles’ family.

It was recently revealed that WWE had the original plan to allow The Samoan Submission Machine to win the WWE Championship at SummerSlam but then changed their mind and instead allowed Styles to retain but show a side to his character that the WWE Universe had never seen before.

Styles’ wife and daughter Annie were at ringside and Joe made a number of derogative comments about his family throughout the match which seemingly tipped Styles over the edge which is why he decided to use a steel chair.

Even though their match at Hell In A Cell has already been announced, there are still three episodes of SmackDown before then and there could be a stipulation added to the match since their first encounter ended in a disqualification win for Styles.

Now that AJ has shown this side of him, it will be interesting to see if WWE continues to push this character for the WWE Champion heading into one of the most brutal pay-per-views of the year.
