Over the course of the past three years, AJ Styles has had a number of nicknames in WWE. Ever since his debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble, the Georgia native has been known as “The Phenomenal one”.
That has since changed up a few times whilst he’s been the main star of SmackDown Live, which has seen him known as “The Face that runs The Place” and SmackDown itself has become known as “The House That AJ Styles Built.”
That being said, Styles is no longer the WWE Champion, which means that none of these nicknames make any sense anymore, since The New Daniel Bryan is now the face that runs the place.
This could be why WWE has decided to shake up Styles’ nickname and on the most recent episode of SmackDown Live, the term “The Real AJ Styles” was thrown around a lot.
Styles seemingly set a new level for himself when he attacked Vince McMahon backstage a few weeks ago, which means that it’s likely that The Real AJ Styles moniker could allow the former WWE Champion to get away with some much riskier antics moving forward.
Styles and Bryan’s feud is far from over and since Bryan now has a new attitude and he’s used it to overcome the threat of Styles, it’s only fair that the Real AJ Styles is afforded the same privileges as he looks to once again reclaim his WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble on January 27th.
It will be interesting to see what new attitude comes with this new moniker as The Road to WrestleMania looms and Styles looks to ensure his place on the card.
