NXT UK Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley will be defending her title against Isla Dawn during the first all-women pay-per-view WWE Evolution.

Dawn earned the right to face Ripley by defeating Killer Kelly during Saturday’s taping of NXT UK.

The finals of the second Mae Young Tournament have long been announced to be taking place during Evolution.  We’re going to get to see Toni Storm and Io Shirai battle during the pay-per-view.

One competitor we’re not going to see during Evolution is the former Diva’s Champion Kaitlyn as she was eliminated in a second-round match by Mia Yim.

Following her elimination, Kaitlyn posted on Instagram to reflect on what some might feel is a too-short WWE comeback.

Did you tune into the @wwenetwork for the @maeyoungclassic last night? My match with @miayimofficial was one of my favorite of all time. The match itself was so dope and Mia is such a powerful woman in so many ways. But For me, it was exceptionally meaningful to come back after so many years and to leave it all out there in the ring and offer my contribution to the evolution of women’s wrestling. The evolution of the division is parallel to my evolution as a person and as a competitor/performer. Man I love wrestling. Congrats to @miayimofficial. She deserves it. Much respect to her. #wwe #maeyoungclassic #MYC2 #womenswrestling #evolution #comebackqueen #girlboss

Kaitlyn is full of praise for Yim and expresses pride in her own contribution to the evolution of women’s wrestling.

Meanwhile, though we are going to see Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix at Evolution, reports say that she has declined to step into the ring during the event.

Ringside News is reporting that Phoenix hasn’t agreed to wrestle at Evolution. Her last in-ring appearance in the WWE was during the Women’s Royal Rumble. Since then her appearances have been limited to providing commentary and that could be what she will do during Evolution.

One former superstar we won’t see during Evolution will be former two-time WWE Women’s Champion Jazz.

Jazz is an active wrestler and is the current NWA World Women’s Championship. So we now that she can still go. But she doesn’t seem inclined to go to Evolution.

She recently responded to a fan who Tweeted her saying it would be cool to see her at Evolution:

While Jazz seems adamant that an Evolution appearance is not happening, it’s interesting to note that the earlier Tweet that prompted the fan to ask Jazz about Evolution was actually about who a dream opponent for Jazz would be:

Sasha Banks is reportedly clear to wrestle and, while advertised for Evolution, doesn’t have a match yet. Maybe someone should bring this up to WWE management.

Another former diva who is not announced for Evolution is Melina which is a pity because she’s Naomi’s dream opponent.

Melina is a three-time Women’s Champion and a two-time Divas Champion. She left the WWE in 2011. She recently had an interview on the YouTube channel Ring The Belle, where she responded to Naomi’s comment.

“I wanted to hug her face off. That’s so sweet. I would love to have a match with her,” said Melina.

Melina is more or less retired now and has claimed she is not interested in getting back in the ring, but so far Naomi’s card for Evolution is free. WWE still has about two weeks to book matches or make changes.
