WWE Extreme Rules: Sasha Banks Becomes The New Raw Women’s Champion in a Controversial Ending

Sasha Banks was the reason why Bayley was able to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship earlier tonight when she used her brass rings to her advantage when she attacked Nikki Cross behind the referee’s back.

Bayley was forced to then play her role in the Raw Women’s Championship match later in the night.

Sasha Banks and Bayley had the chance to leave The Horror Show at Extreme Rules with all of the Championships available for the women on WWE’s main roster. Banks only had to overcome the threat of Asuka, who was handed the Championship back in May when Becky Lynch announced that her pregnancy had forced her to relinquish the belt.

Sasha Banks has been one of the biggest stars in recent weeks and one of the hardest working women in the company which showed throughout her match since The Boss had definitely done her homework on Asuka.

The end of the match was surprisingly controversial since the two women countered rollups before Bayley looked to involve herself in the match.

Asuka was then able to take the green mist from Kairi Sane before she accidentally spat it in the face of the referee. Bayley then took this distraction as the perfect time to hit the Raw Women’s Champion with the title.

The referee was still unable to make the count, so Bayley took the referee’s shirt off and put it on herself, before helping Banks into the cover and counting to three.

Bayley then begged the timekeeper to ring the bell, but there was no official announcement when Banks left the arena with Asuka’s Championship.

It should be noted that Bayley doesn’t have the authority to make the count in the absence of an official which means that technically this win shouldn’t count. The outcome of this match will definitely be a hot topic of conversation on Monday Night Raw this week.
