Conor McGregor could be performing in a WWE ring soon if Vince McMahon shells out the money that The Notorious demands for his services.
McGregor recently teased a WWE run post-WrestleMania that was welcomed by Stephanie McMahon. While the tease could be a mere move to get more money out of his next fight inside the Octagon, The McMahons currently sport the financial position to sign the former UFC Lightweight Champion.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE is also ready to look past Conor’s notoriety and arrest record if he is willing to work with them.
“Whatever standards WWE has for their talent or for people that they would hire when it comes to Conor [McGregor] they’re just gonna be ‘Whatever.’”
“I don’t know if they’re gonna spend the money that he’s gonna want. I mean the last time they wanted him a couple of years ago for WrestleMania and you know they weren’t even close on money. Maybe you know, who know? They’ve got more money […] and maybe he wants to do it whereas before […] I think it would really difficult because when you’re making that kind of money your price is really high, but I think they’re more willing to pay his price now that they’ve got a lot of money. Whereas before it was kind of like fiscal responsibility now there is no fiscal responsibility it’s like if they want him… it’s like the Japanese when they got Floyd [Mayweather] it made no sense at all, but they wanted Floyd.”
McGregor has been without a victory since 2016 and has lost his last two bouts – against Floyd Mayweather in a one-off boxing match and against Khabib Nurgamedov at UFC 229.
The Notorious recently announced his retirement from MMA on Twitter but later on confirmed that he is already training and in talks of a return.
Only time will reveal if McGregor follows Ronda Rousey‘s route and ends up in WWE.
