According to Ringside News, Joe Peisich on the Barnburner Fired Up podcast revealed that WWE have held talks with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez ahead of the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. However, there is no indication that Velasquez will leave UFC for WWE anytime soon.

Two months ago, Velasquez trained at the WWE Performance Center with NXT superstars in Orlando, Florida.

During his time at the Performance Center, Velasquez learned some wrestling moves under coach Norman Smiley and then took part in a DDP Yoga session led by WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page.

Peisich said: “You saw maybe two months ago former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez training in the WWE Performance Center.

“I have heard that they have been having meetings with Cain Velasquez. I don’t know if Cain Velasquez is going to turn from UFC to WWE or whatever but there’s been talk between WWE and Cain Velasquez, so that’s all I’m going to say here.”

Velasquez’s MMA record screams 14-2. The 2-time UFC Heavyweight Champion captured the championship gold twice by beating 5-time World Champion Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos.

Velasquez also has a plethora of other UFC records to his name.

Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are among the UFC stars who have signed with Vince McMahon’s promotion in recent years.

The Beast returned to WWE in 2012 and took out legends like Bill Goldberg, John Cena, Triple H, CM Punk and also ended The Undertaker’s legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania 30.

Lesnar also captured the WWE Universal Championship from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33 and had a 504-day run with the title until finally losing it to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.

Ronda Rousey appeared at the Royal Rumble back in January and made her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34. Rousey is the reigning RAW Women’s Champion, having won the title from Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. The former UFC Bantamweight Champion stands as the first woman to have held both a WWE and UFC Title.

Shayna Baszler defeated Ember Moon to win the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. Four months later, she lost the title to Kairi Sane.

WWE Hell in a Cell takes place this Sunday, September 16, from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

This is the first time that the hellacious steel structured event is headed to San Antonio.
