WWE Issues Official Statement on Edge’s Injury and Surgery

This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW concluded with Randy Orton preying on the returning Christian and winning the unsanctioned match just a night after emerging victorious over Edge at WWE Backlash.

Captain Charisma left the Performance Center on a stretcher and reminded us of a similar scene involving Edge when the Rated R Superstar was escorted out on a stretcher on RAW after Royal Rumble. The leading tag team of WWE’s glorious past has now fallen to the unmerciful Viper.

Speaking of the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” at Backlash, Edge suffered a torn triceps during the re-shoots that will keep him out of action for several months. WWE has confirmed that the 11-time World Champion underwent surgery and is currently rehabbing at home.

“WWE Digital has confirmed that Edge suffered a torn triceps as a result of injuries sustained during The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. Edge has undergone successful surgery and is currently rehabbing at home.”

While WWE hasn’t provided a return timetable for Edge, a surgery of this kind usually takes four to eight months to heal completely.

At this point, Christian appears to be Orton’s next opponent and it will be interesting to see what the creative has in store for The Apex Predator on the road to SummerSlam.
