Roman Reigns was attacked this Tuesday on SmackDown Live after multiple backstage pieces of equipment fell on him while he was on his way to make a challenge for Summerslam.
According to recent backstage reports, Daniel Bryan is set to be revealed as the man behind the sneak attack on the Big Dog. Some fans guessed Samoa Joe or Buddy Murphy (who was seen in the area after the attack), to be the attackers but Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed Bryan to be the perpetrator.
Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns are most likely set to compete at Summerslam in a match which is expected to be announced quite soon, and fans are already excited for the upcoming battle of two major superstars.
WWE has, however, launched a storyline investigation into the attack which took place on Reigns. WWE recently posted an update stating that preliminary investigations show that the incident took place due to forklift error backstage.
Investigation details on Roman Reigns’ backstage incident on SmackDown LIVE: “In the final moments of this week’s SmackDown LIVE, Roman Reigns was intending to make a Summerslam challenge from the backstage area, but The Big Dog just barely evaded sheer catastrophe when tons of steel beams came plummeting toward him.”
“A preliminary investigation has found the incident Tuesday night involving Roman Reigns was caused by a forklift backstage carrying lighting grids that were not properly secured.”
“Check back with WWE.com for more details as they become available.”
Reigns had a major role in WWE programming this week, as he starred in the closing segments of both RAW and SmackDown Live. He teamed up with his cousins Usos and Cedric Alexander to take down Samoa Joe, Drew McIntyre and the Good Brothers in the closing segment of Monday Night RAW.
Reigns’ incident on SmackDown Live immediately became the most talked-about segments on social media, and led to fans wondering about who could be behind the attack.
