RAW Women’s Champion Asuka made her return to NXT programming this week in the main event, helping out Io Shirai to see off Sasha Banks and Bayley.

Asuka, who had a long run in NXT as the Women’s Champion, is currently in a feud with Sasha Banks on Monday nights. After Bayley tried to illegally sneak in a victory for Banks, Asuka appeared and spit green mist in Banks’ face.

This led to Shirai delivering the moonsault to win the non-title match and celebrated with Asuka in the ring after the match.

Asuka is scheduled to defend her RAW Women’s Title against Sasha Banks at Extreme Rules in two weeks’ time. Banks and Bayley, the Women’s Tag Team Champions, are on a mission to take over the entire division, with Bayley already being the top star on Friday nights.

Io Shirai will now go on to face Tegan Nox, who took out Candice LeRae, Mia Yim and Dakota Kai in the opening encounter to become the top contender for Shirai’s title.

Although there is no confirmation, Shirai is expected to defend her title against Nox on Night Two of the Great American Bash next week.

WWE also announced several matches for next week’s edition of Great American Bash.

A Street Fight was announced between LeRae and Yim, while the new faction led by Santos Escobar, now referred to as El Legado del Fantasma, will take on Breezango and Drake Maverick.

This will be in addition to the huge Winner-Take-All match between NXT Champion Adam Cole and NXT North American Champion Keith Lee.
